Web Site Digs Up Little
Jewels for City Kids By Heidi Anderson
Bay
Area Backroads June 25, 2002 One Day Adventure
with Emerald Yeh
So many of us who've lived in the Bay Area for years know about Angel
island, just a short boat ride from Tiburon, yet we never make the trip
out here. Well, it was a web site of all things that brought us here today,
a web site called gokid.org , started by a community of mothers who wanted
to open our eyes to all the wonderful resources and places in the Bay
Area for families.
"How do you do it, where do you go, where do you park. All the little
gritty things. Those are things that parents want to know," says Chris
Loughran.
Chris Loughran, Amy Penticoff & Kim Boyd Birmingham were frustrated
moms finding it difficult to figure out what to do, and where to go, with
their kids.
"Unless you're tied into that Mom, or that parent network, from going
to playgrounds and such, you miss so many things that San Francisco has
to offer," says Amy.
So, they created a network of their own called GoKid.org , a comprehensive
web site with articles, resources and day trips for Bay Area parents.

What We've Heard
"I just wanted to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for putting a page
together that parents can go to and find something for the kids. We as
parents can run out of ideas at times. My girl friend and I have 5 kids
from 12 to 4yrs old. It can be hard to find things to do because of the
age range. I hope with the help of you web site we will have better adventures."
